Why I Stayed with Scalable
I've tried several brokers. Scalable Capital is the one I kept — not because it's perfect, but because for my use case (monthly ETF savings plan, no active trading) it offers the best overall package.
What's Really Good
Savings Plan Selection and Automation
Over 2,500 ETFs and stocks available as savings plans. I run two plans: one on the MSCI World (Vanguard FTSE All-World) and one on an Emerging Markets ETF. Both fully automated monthly, no manual intervention needed.
The App
The best broker app I've used. Clean, fast, no unnecessary features to distract. Portfolio view is clearly structured.
Costs (PRIME+ vs. Free Broker)
Two models:
- Free Broker: Free savings plan purchases for Scalable's own partner ETFs. Individual orders cost €0.99.
- PRIME+: €4.99/month, unlimited orders at €0 and better savings plan conditions.
For pure savings plan investors: Free Broker is enough. I pay €0 for my monthly savings plans.
What's Annoying
Customer service is slow. A response to problems often takes 3–5 business days. Standard for neobrokers, but frustrating when you have an urgent issue.
No interest-bearing cash account — money sitting in the depot uninvested earns nothing. There's a separate overnight deposit product for that, which I don't use.
Who Scalable Is Right For
- Long-term ETF investors with savings plans
- People who don't need complex financial instruments (options, futures)
- People who value a good app over phone support
Who It's Not Right For
- Active traders with many orders per month
- People who need funds outside the savings plan selection
My Setup
FTSE All-World (Vanguard, accumulating) as the core holding, 80% of the monthly investment amount. 20% Emerging Markets for additional exposure. Running for over three years, never manually intervened once.
Set up the savings plan, forget it, build wealth — that's the plan. Scalable doesn't get in the way.
